DALLAS, TX/MEMPHIS, TN (July 15, 2015) – Littler, the world’s largest employment and labor law practice representing management, is pleased to announce that Lisa A. Lichterman and Steven R. McCown have been elected Fellows of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Lichterman and McCown were selected based on the highest recognition by their colleagues and for their outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication and excellence. The duo will be inducted on November 7, 2015 in Philadelphia, PA.
Lisa A. Lichterman, a shareholder in the firm’s Memphis, TN office represents management clients in both state and federal employment litigation, as well as administrative proceedings before state and federal agencies. Lichterman regularly works with employers to determine the legal impact of employment decisions and to develop proactive policies and procedures to improve employee morale, strengthen relationships between management and employees and ensure compliance with employment and labor laws. She also regularly conducts employee and supervisory training programs in various employment law areas.
Active in the legal community, she is member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Tennessee Bar and American Bar Associations. She is the chair of the Personnel Committee of the Memphis Bar Association and has previously served as board representative and held other positions for the Labor and Employment Section of the Memphis Bar Association. Additionally, she has been recognized by a number of legal organizations, which include Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business; named MBQ Power Player for the Employment Law section of Inside Memphis Business for the past four consecutive years; named a Super Lawyer by the Mid-South Law and Politics from 2011-2014; named Top 50 Women by Mid-South Super Lawyers in 2013; and in 2012, she was the recipient of the Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Services by the Memphis Area Legal Services. She received an AV® Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell. Lichterman received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and her B.A. from Rhodes College.
Steven R. McCown, co-founder and former office managing shareholder of Littler’s Dallas office is a nationally-recognized expert on the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA). With over 35 years of experience, McCown has represented and counseled employers and industry associations on various OSHA matters. Recently, he led the successful defense of a Fortune 100 company in a nationwide sex discrimination class action. Additionally, McCown has experience in traditional labor law and has represented employers in numerous employment law jury trials in state and federal court. He is a regular speaker before business and professional associations throughout the country and is contributing author to several treatises and publications on Occupational Safety and Health Law. He is board certified in labor and employment law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
McCown was recognized in this year’s “Top 20 in Traditional Labor Law” list by Human Resource Executive® magazine and Lawdragon. He has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in America for 24 consecutive years and has been named a Super Lawyer in Texas. Additionally, he has been ranked in Chambers USA: Leading Lawyers for Business since 2004 and was awarded AV® Peer Review Rating by Martindale-Hubbell. McCown received his J.D. from Southern Methodist University, Dedman School of Law and his B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
